Cutlass Theory

DESCRIPTION:

Prerequisite: Military Sabre - Saturday, August 7, 5-6:30 pm

In this Level 2 class students will build upon what was learned in Military Sabre and adapt it to use with the shorter naval weapon. A Brief history of the development of the cutlass will open the class. Texts from Hutton and Corbesier will be used to aid the student in cuts, focusing on both the overhand and underhand moulinet, and close quarter grapples and blade seizures. Students will also be given time to work thru the instruction with partner drills.

Masks and gloves will be required, as will short (32 inch overall) wasters or short singlesticks. Some cutlass wasters will be provided.
