DESCRIPTION:
This class provides a hands-on view into the visually different yet entirely practical system set forth by Camillo Agrippa in the mid-1500's. Underscored by keen use of tempo and avoidance, the biomechanics involved provide a smooth and graceful solution to the problem of an armed & angry adversary. The underpinnings of the system will be evidenced through plays described in the text, both common & uncommon. Those familiar with Marozzo will find this system an interesting contrast to that of the Bolognese. We will be making cuts & thrusts against each other - please bring a single-hand practice sword suitable for training (ie. thrusting a practice partner - Darkwood Armory, Gus Trim or DelTin flexible sidesword blades recommended), gloves, 12k mask, protection for the upper torso/arms, notepad & pen/pencil. Throat protection suggested. |
