DESCRIPTION:
In this intermediate to advanced class the relationship between "position" (Posta) and Guards will be investigated in the context of measure and tempo to illuminate ways and means to cross the distance into engagements. Through plays from the treatises, we will attempt to gain a clear understanding of the interrelation of guard and position to the potential of blade engagements in order to seize advantageous place while maintaining command of line. ** This is not a beginners class, full familiarity with the basics of swordsmanship with the longsword are a prerequisite for this class. A steel blunt or aluminum training longsword is required to participate. Wooden wasters are not appropriate.*** |
