Master Class:
Conservation of Motion in Messer/Dusack Fencing

ROOM: GVT 3900

INSTRUCTOR: Jared Kirby

DESCRIPTION:

In fencing it is important for your body to work as efficiently as possible in order to accomplish your intended goal. This class will look at the guard, footwork, the cut and the attack to examine how the body works as a complete unit to perform these actions. We will examine how each part of
the body works in harmony to create the most economical action.

Lastly, we will expand our analysis to the assault in order to see how this
refinement & precision affect your timing and distance in the assault.

This class is open to all skill levels, but participants should have some experience with the Dusack or Messer.

The equipment needed for the seminar will be: a fencing jacket (or equivalent protection), a fencing mask or helmet with face protection, heavy gloves (welding gloves work well), forearm protection as well as elbow protection for the sword arm, and groin/chest protection (male/female respectively).

A messer or falchion is recommended, but a dusack can be used (some dusacks will be available to borrow).

There are several stores online that dusacks are available from, such as:
