The Trace of the Tomahawk

ROOM:  TBA

INSTRUCTOR:  Dwight McLemore

DESCRIPTION:

From the French & Indian War to well past the American Revolution, the colonial militias required either sword, bayonet or tomahawk as the soldier’s side arm. As late as the 1840’s, the tomahawk was still in widespread use.  The rationale must have undoubtedly been it’s multi-use capability as both tool and weapon. We will explore the use of the tomahawk in a 1.5 hour seminar covering the basics of the tomahawk as a weapon.

The first hour will be devoted to hands-on instruction in the draw, cut, chop, and rake techniques.

The last half hour will be devoted to tactical throwing this unique weapon.

Eye, hand, forearm, elbow, and groin protection is required.

Tomahawks will be provided.
