Fundamental Principles:
Understanding Your Measure

ROOM: GVT 3950

INSTRUCTORS: Jared Kirby & Tim Ruzicki

DESCRIPTION:

Measure is a crucial element in any manner of combat and understanding
measure is key to controlling the fight. This class will focus on developing a sense of your appropriate distance for attack and defense in armed and unarmed combat. Through a series of exercises we will develop and hone your "sixth sense", so you will be able to feel when you are in the perfect distance to strike and when you are too close. These drills will instill and reinforce good habits, resulting in consistent study and practice which utilizes your perfect measure.

PREREQUISITES:
This is an intermediate/advanced class for experienced Western Martial
Artists.

REQUIRED EQUIPMENT:
A fencing mask, fencing or padded jacket, gloves, chest protection for women and groin protection for men, and a sword.

RECOMMENDED EQUIPMENT:
Bring all of your weapons to this class. We will examine grappling, pugilism, knife, short sword, long sword, rapier, sidesword, and smallsword.
