An entirely unusual text, Captain Federico Ghisliero's 1587 effort directly discusses far more than combat technique. Divided into two sections (the Theory and the Practice), the first is generally dedicated to topics one should know before studying swordplay, and the second to specific technique. The former discusses the Four Humors, the body's proportions, and Aristotle's tempo among others. The latter includes topics from sword and dagger to facing a mounted opponent.
