ROOM: TBA
INSTRUCTOR:
John Lennox
DESCRIPTION:
This class will
introduce students to the basic style of English and Colonial military sabre.
This style is an amalgam of the systems of several masters from Pepper (1797)
to Hutton (1889). It incorporates the aspects shared by these several masters
to create a functional system that is representative of military sabre fencing
in the aforementioned countries throughout the 19th century.
The class will
begin with basic footwork, moulinets and parries, and move quickly to higher
level techniques.
Prior sabre experience
is helpful but not required.
The basics taught
in this class will be utilized in the Cutlass Theory class. Therefore, the
Military Sabre class will serve as a prerequisite for the latter.
