With over 20 years experience in martial arts, self defense and gymnastics, "Mac" is certified in Kung-Fu, Expert Level Knife, and holds 1st Dan in Kendo. He earned a Master of Education from Northeast Louisiana State University and has broad teaching experience in the fields of physical fitness, gymnastics, and safety & occupational health. He is a retired Army combat arms officer with extensive knowledge of operations and live fire exercises.

Dwight has recently retired as a Safety Manager from federal civil service and now devotes full time to writing and publishing training support packages related to the Western Martial Arts. He is married with two grown daughters and resides in rural Surry county of Virginia just across the river from historic Jamestown.

In the field of Western Martial Arts, Dwight has received world-wide recognition for his publication of bestsellers Bowie & Big Knife Fighting System and The Fighting Tomahawk with Paladin Press. His latest offering, Advanced Bowie Techniques, is receiving favorable review. He is currently preparing a text on the staff and one on techniques for his custom made Korean style sword, titled Dancing with Steel. In collaboration with Lauric Press and W. Hoch Hochheim he produced the video Bowie & Big Knife Dueling, which has been accepted as part of the curriculum for the Scientific Fighting Congress.

For three years, Dwight presented tomahawk and longknife training for the Prickett's Fort The School of the Longhunter seminar in West Virginia.

He is a member of the advisory council for the American Heritage Fighting Arts Association and the Association of Historical Fencing. He is founder and director of The School of Two Swords, which provides instruction in a variety of edged weapons and close quarter combat techniques. From 1999 through 2000, Dwight's students regularly won National and Regional weapons sparring competitions in the USWKF in Baltimore, Maryland.
