Marozzo’s Assaulti
![]()
ROOM: TBA
INSTRUCTOR:
Gary Chelak
DESCRIPTION:
One of the key components to Achille Marozzo's pedagogy, the assaulti teach the
actions & concepts required for his system of combat. They are comprised of
interchangeable actions that fit together like stanzas in poetry or music. The
assaulti also teach a thought process, opening doors that were perhaps
unnoticed before, and illustrate how to create and maintain one's safety while
successfully attacking the adversary.
The third part of Marozzo's first assault will be examined in detail, with a
focus on how the same set of actions suits for many situations. Attendees will
understand the place of assaulti in training, be able to reproduce these
actions, and understand why they function the way they do.
We will be making cuts & thrusts against each other - please bring a single-hand
practice sword, small-ish buckler, gloves, 12k mask, protection for the upper
torso/arms, notepad & pen/pencil.
*note: this is not the same class that I presented at 4W earlier this year -
that class/track is not a prerequisite for this class. The content is completely
accessible to those new to 'spada da filo', and those who have taken a similar
class with me will see different content/focus.
